On Friday, Oct. 23 the Burns, Cooks and Mulligans left for Key West and had a fairly smooth ride. The Cook’s boat had a water/fuel problem that had to be solved, but eventually, we all met up at the Galleon with the Browns, Mounts and Rapps.
Friday evening’s cocktail party ended up as dinner while we enjoyed everyone’s company and ate too much food. Ginny Rapp’s chicken salad was a big hit, and she had made enough to share with other boats at the Marina!
Everyone was busy on Saturday solving a Key West treasure hunt. I understand Al Rapp was trying to round up some roosters while his friends took a picture (this was one of the treasure hunt clues). Then everyone ran into one another during their quests and compared answers and copied them! That led to all the participants winning the First Place prize, so we ended up drawing for the prizes.
Our Saturday evening dinner at Café Marquesa was very nice. We were concerned at first because there was no power in that part of Key West but it didn’t last very long. We made plans to meet again for lunch the next day and decided we would gather to eat our leftovers for dinner! Eating was a big part of this trip!
We had good weather during our stay and the facilities were very nice. The Galleon had recently installed new docks. We left Key West just in time because the town was gearing up for Fantasy Fest! |
