We had a great morning with moderate temperatures and a southern breeze. All week the forecast was for rain but it held off for us. There were eight boats, with Captain Barry Gelfand and First Mate Claudette graciously offering their boat, My Turn, as the bridge boat.
The National Anthem was played, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Introductions of the new Bridge and guests were made. Linda Sandlin gave a short recitation of the club’s history and Alan Sandlin gave the invocation.
Five of our members passed last year, It is our custom to put a red rose in the water for each member who passed away and one rose in remembrance of all past deceased members. Faye Graefe put a rose in the water for Wally Graefe, Doreen Hertel put a rose in the water for Wally Hertel, and a rose was placed in the water for P/C Harry Kenworthy, Jidge Wood and Jack Crutchfeld.
Captain Bob Burns and First Mate Sharon graciously used their boat, Molly B, for the Past Commodores who could attend. They were P/C Jim Mellinger and First Mate Syd, P/C Paul Meyer, P/C David Brandt and First Mate D’Ann, P/C Alex Orsolini and First Mate Marcia, P/C Ginny Vroman and P/C Bob Vroman.
Fleet Captain Gerry Odenbach, First Mate Linda and guests on their boat Odiekanobi passed in review with the rest of the fleet following him We had just five other boats, partly due to the very low tides . They were Knot Home II, Good Vibrations, Night Hawk, Sea Goast, & Margin.
We had 57 members and guest on boats and another 45 members and guests watching the ceremony from shore. After passing in review everybody went to C.J’s on the Bay for a very enjoyable lunch with great service and good food.
Thanks to everyone who helped put this event together and to the members and guests who participated.
