It was hot and steamy, the food was fabulous, and the horseshoes were flying.
About 50 members gathered at Panther Key April 30th for a picnic party fest. Commodore Cook led a group from the Coon Key Light over to Panther Key. Some boats ventured over on their own and were very helpful with getting boats anchored and safely ashore as well as carrying supplies ashore for set up.
Dennis Rising was extremely helpful shuttling members ashore who had to anchor out in deeper water. It was nice to have the opportunity for both small and large vessels to be able to join together for a Club function.
Alex and his friend Steve, who was visiting from Chicago, manned the grills and cooked for all who attended. The extra dishes that were shared by members were excellent and all agreed it was another food extravaganza.
Susan Cook reported that there were six boats that anchored out in the bay overnight; four boats rafted up and had a great time for the rest of the afternoon and into the evening. There was plenty of leftovers for all and they had a great evening. Two of the smaller boats, the Sandlin's and Engstrom's, stayed just off-shore. They built a fire in the evening that was a beacon in the otherwise pitch-dark of the night.
Do you think they told pirate ghost stories? Panther Key does have a pirate history!
