Larry & Patti

Bielawski

Hi – I’m Patti.           I have been married to Larry for 43 years, have 3 grown children and 7 grandchildren.  After teaching for 25 years, I retired to a 2nd profession – for the last 10 years - a travel agent for American Express.  My husband, Larry & I spend summers in Linwood, MI and winters in lovely Marco Island in at the Marbelle.
and I’m Larry.         Following law school, I was an asst Prosecuting attorney for 2 years.  After 9 years in private practice, I started my commission & judge career phase:  Workers Comp Administrative Law judge for 3 years, Worker Comp Appellate Commission for 1 year, then Circuit Court judge for 18 years.

We are from Racine, WI.  We have 3 children scattered across the country.  Don owns & still operates a Property Management & Real Estate Development company in Racine.  Sally was a high school teacher & now has a part time job as marketing & special events director for Racine Heritage Museum.
Boating is what brought us to the island & led to our purchase of a condo here in 2002.  We have both enjoyed being on, around or in the water most of our lives.  When we are in Wisconsin, we do our boating on Lake Geneva.
We are looking forward to making new friends & boating with MBYC.

Linda Spell & Ray Rosenberg

Ray Rosenberg, Linda Spell & their 24-year-old parrot Merlynn have been full-time Marco Island residents since January 2005. They moved here from the Los Angeles area, taking three years in between “real houses” to live aboard their sailboat & coastal cruise the Pacific coast of Mexico.  Ray is Commander of the Marco Island Civil Air Patrol, & a member of the Gourmet Stud Muffins (men’s cooking club), the Marco Men’s Club and the Marco Sportfishing Club.  Linda is involved in the Calusa Garden Club & enjoys playing golf & mah jongg.  Both Ray & Linda are Conservancy volunteer “Critter Couriers”, transporting injured wildlife to the clinic there & assisting in releases of rehabilitated birds & animals.  They also serve on race committees for various sailing regattas in Southwest Florida.  Ray retired from the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1986, when he began a second career in association management.  Linda has been a licensed real estate broker for over thirty years.  Both Ray and Linda are now retired and enjoying life on Marco Island.

We were both raised in Rhode Island and joined the corporate world after college.  Those were the days where promotions often resulted in a move for the family.  The results were several dozen moves over the next three decades all over the US and Canada.  The family consists of 2 children.  Curt (NBC anchor in Richmond) and Rob (Software startup in Raleigh) as well as 4 grandchildren.  Our boating adventures range from offshore sailing on our 40' sailboat to our present 22' powerboat now in our backyard.  We did try the sailboat on Marco but soon realized the thin waters and a 5' keel were not a comfortable fit for us.  We moved to Marco in 1998 from NC where Bob headed up the Hardees/ Roy Rogers fast food chains and Brenda became a housewife after a career in retail.  We look forward to a whole new set of adventures with the Marco Bay Yacht Club.

Jim & Kerry

Heckenliable

We are long time Minnesota friends and neighbors of
John & Ruth Putnam.  Last year we purchased a condo on Marco and are retiring here as residents this year.  Jim owned and operated H & W Implement in New Prague, Minnesota.  Kerry
taught school for many years.  The Heckenlaibles are seasoned small boaters and very avid outdoor types.  They raised their three boys on Cedar Lake near New Prague where they still
maintain a home.  They recently purchased a Sea Hunt 20' center console and have already put a few tanks of gas through it while exploring the Island.

My wife, Janice, & I have recently purchased a condo at The Esplanade where we will be spending the winter months in an attempt to escape the cold MI winters.  Both of us were born and raised in Mt Pleasant, MI where I am a 3rd generation owner of an aggregate business.  Janice is a retired Director of Diagnostic Imaging at the Central Michigan Community Hospital.  I am a Past Chairman of the Michigan Aggregates Association, a current member of the Board of Directors of the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association and serve on the Board of Directors of the Isabella Bank in Mt Pleasant, MI.  Janice & I both hold private pilots licenses and enjoy flying, traveling and boating as well as photography.  We have 1 daughter & 3 grandchildren that reside in Connecticut and we have a cat named Lucy.  Over the past few years we have enjoyed participating in Marco Bay Yacht Club cruises to Ft Myers & Captiva as guests of our friends Brent & Susan Cook.  We recently took delivery of a new 310ss Formula boat from Walker’s Marine and look forward to being active MBYC members ourselves.

Karen & I have been coming to Marco since we bought a condo at the Royal Seafarer in 1985.  We have maintained our condo and built a home in 1998 and currently live on Antiqua Ct.  Karen & I were both born in Chicago and both retired from the teaching profession.  We did our summer boating with our four children in the Chain of Lakes in Northern Illinois.  I enjoy playing golf, boating and playing trumpet at the San Marco Church and in two 17 piece big bands.  Karen is active in Newcomers and on committees at the Island Country Club.  We look forward to participating with the members of the MBYC.

Currently we spend 6 months in New York and 6 months in Marco and are looking forward to becoming members on the Yacht Club.

Bob White & Margi Tessier
Bob & Margi are from the Boston area and just purchased at La Peninsula on Isles of Capri.  They also have an Island Cottage North on Cape Cod.  Boating has been a part of Bob’s life since his grandparents bought him his own little boat at 11 years old.
He has always lived on the water and loves fishing, and boating.  Bob was lucky to have retired 4 years ago as a Superintendent of Schools and a 35+ career in education.
Margi retired two years ago after 36 years in middle school education.  She was a Spanish teacher for many of those years and spent the last five years as a middle school principal.  She and Bob are looking forward to spending most of the year in FL and returning to Cape Cod for the summer months to continue eating lobster from their pots and quahogs, oysters & steamers from the waters surrounding their cottage.  They have boats both here and on the Cape.  To quote a good friend back home; “If you are lucky enough to live on the water, you are lucky enough!”
Mike and Mary Doshan are Minnesota natives.  Both grew up with a love of boating.  Mike lived on a northern Minnesota lake and Mary sailed on the lakes near Minneapolis.    In 1974 they moved to Lake Minnetonka just outside the the Twin Cities when boating again became standard fare for the summer months.  In 1994 they purchased a condo on Marco Island and discovered boating could be a year around delight.
Mike is a retired personal injury attorney and Mary a retired school teacher and former docent for the Minneapolis Institute of Arts.
We look forward to spending time with this friendly group of people who also enjoy boating in paradise.

Bob & Carol

Boland

Carol and I have owned a home on Marco since 1988 and currently live at 248 Dan River Ct.  We have been boating since the early 1980's. Before Marco we boated on the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri where we owned a home.  The largest boat we owned was a 450 Sea Ray and we currently own a 2870 Pursuit.  We love the water and look for opportunities to participate with others who share that interest.  Our original home was in St. Louis where I was the president and CEO of a 120 man architectural company, from which I retired permanently in 2006.  I love golf, life, and good friends in addition to boating and fishing. My wife Carol of 45 years also likes boating, would prefer I did all the fishing and golf.  We look forward to participating with the members of the MBYC.
