COMMODORE’S MESSAGE
My first month as your Commodore has really been busy and very rewarding. We had a lot on our plate last month with the cruise to Captiva and Boca Grande on the 3rd to the 7th, then the First Mates bowling extravaganza on the 15th, the cruise to Legacy Harbour Marina for the Edison Festival of Lights the 18th to the 21st. and our Fleet Captain’s Auction on the 27th.The proceeds from the auction are divided between the US Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 95, Marco Island Power & Sail Squadron, and the Marco Island Civil Air Patrol.
On our Monday Madness (the last Monday of the month) we had a great turnout with about 65 members and guests showing up, including PC Irwin Miller with First Mate Marylees visiting from Tennessee. It was a fun evening again; 50 of us stayed for dinner. The dinner specials were excellent and worked out very well. Shelly will let me know what the specials will be for March; as soon as I get the list I’ll get it out.
This month is another busy month for the club with the new member party on the 2nd at the Island Country Club, Gilligan’s Island on the 20th and the cruise to Sarasota from the 25th to the 30th.
I want to thank every one who sponsored the events: Vice Commodore Brent Cook for the Captiva Boco Grande cruise, Phyllis Ostrow for the First Mates event, PC Dave Besuden, Joe Anzalone, and PC Bob Vroman for the Festival of Lights, and our Fleet Captain Gerry Odenbach for the auction.
We have four members who are ill: Alan Johnson, Carolyn Carroll, Joan Walsh, and Juanita Henning. Our prayers and thoughts go out to them. Please let me know if any of our members are sick or injured so I can notify everybody.
Thanks again
Your Commodore Bill Horton |
