SHIPWRECKED ON GILLIGAN’S ISLAND

By BILL HORTON

Our Shipwreck picnic on Gilligan’s Island was a great success for those who were able to make it. The weather was the nicest that we have had in months. We had 15 boats and 44 members attend with great fellowship and good food for everyone. With Bob and Ginny Vroman doing most of the work, picking up tables and the tent, and Ginny picking up the prizes, all I did was order the food.   Brent Cook helped by picking it up, so there wasn’t much for me to do.

For you members who have never attended one of our shipwreck picnics, you really miss a fun day.  Dave Besuden is in charge of the MBYC Olympics with egg tossing, hula hoop, sack racing, and Frisbee throwing contests; he even had a Frisbee throwing contest for the handicapped men with  bad backs,

The big winners were Brent and Susan Cook in the egg throwing (tie breaker with the Burns), George and Carol Engstrom winning the sack race for couples,( George went on to win the men’s also with a close second by Frank Pravato) and Alex Orsolini and Betty Barter in the Frisbee throwing. There were some others; I’m sorry if I didn’t get you all.

Of course Alex, with Al Saunders a close second, won the big prize looking the most like Gilligan and Jacklynn Barter was the most ingenious with her (his) attire.
